I fell in love with so many of the animals. There must've been well over 70 cats there alone. Most of which were very affectionate, sociable and outgoing. At one point I was in a room filled with eight or so kittens all younger than four months. I bent over to take a picture of one sitting on a hammock-like cushion, when I felt this sudden weight on my back and the sound of nails slipping on my jacket. Apparently my hair makes a good cat toy.
I took pictures of at least 100 different animals, some of which were too blurry to keep. But I'm thinking of making this into a long-term project called "The Surrendered": a collection of photographs of animals at SPCAs, humane societies, and other animal rescue organizations.
Will visit as many of these types of organizations as I can in the near future. My next target: the Bear Valley Rescue --- a rescue facility for horses.
Other project ideas in the making... So stay tuned!
